BACKGROUND
Dr Smith completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Queensland in 1995. Starting his career in the Royal Australian Air Force Dr Smith was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACP) in 2000. During his time as a Flight Lieutenant Medical Officer Dr Smith worked in Western Australia, Queensland and Papua New Guinea.

Dr Smith was awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2012, and then in 2015 the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA). Dr Smith has combined his passion for Rural General Practice, Paediatrics and Anaesthesia into his practice as a Staff Anaesthetist at Queensland Children’s Hospital (LCCH).

Dr Smith volunteers in remote indigenous communities in Queensland for Q-Health’s ‘Deadly Ear’ program.

OTHER INTERESTS
In his spare time, Dr Smith loves to cycle on his Trek roadbike, read books, sing for two community choirs and spend time with his family.
